Tonbridge Angels boss hoping to boost funds with friendly against league side at Longmeadow.
Tonbridge Angels boss Tommy Warrilow is hoping to lure a pro club to Longmeadow for a pre-season friendly to boost the club’s coffers.
The club has pencilled in five fixtures so far against non-league opposition, but Warrilow is keeping his fingers crossed that he can get a League Two side or above to pay a visit to Longmeadow.
But it is proving a hard task with many sides already having agreements in place, largely to do with transfers from the non-league to professional clubs.
So far the Angels will play Ebbsfleet United at home on July 14 and Maidstone United away on July 21.
They then embark on a mini-tour of Newcastle with matches against Bedlington Terriers on July 27, and Blyth Spartans on July 28, while they will travel to Folkestone Invicta in the first week of August, though a firm date has yet to be confirmed.
“I’m just waiting on a couple of league clubs to come back to me,” he said.
“As you can appreciate everybody is snowed under trying to get things sorted.
“We have only got one home game at the moment.”
He said that if the league clubs he has been in contact with aren’t able to come to Tonbridge he has visits to other non-league sides planned.
