Gavin Tomlin has linked up well with strikers Jo Kuffour and Danny Kedwell

Gavin Tomlin believes the sudden glut of goals while on loan at Gillingham is down to a change of role since joining from Dagenham & Redbridge.
The forward went 28 appearances without a goal, but has scored four times in his last two outings for the Gills with braces against AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley.
Tomlin, 29, puts the haul down to the position he has played since joining Andy Hessenthaler’s side, which is more flexible than during his time with the Daggers.
He said: “It’s just a different team. Sometimes it’s just not suited to you and you have to find a team that plays to your strength. Gillingham give me the licence to have more movement and I enjoy that creative role. That’s what I think gets the best out of me.
“I really like it here. It’s an ambitious club because I am ambitious as a person – I want to be the best I can be. It’s set up to move into League One, it shouldn’t really be a League Two club anyway.”
Despite doing well individually, the goals have counted for nothing as the Gills lost back-to-back games 4-3.
He said: “You want to score goals but the more important thing is for the team to win. I would rather take those goals away and we won the last three games.
“I’ve done alright, I’ve played well in patches but I need to get a bit fitter. That will come with matches but I still think I can improve my all-round game, that’s what I’m looking to do.”
