Favresham Town boss Ray Turner is keeping his transfer targets safely under wraps as he goes about his summer recruitment drive.

He said he learnt a tough lesson last year when announcing players had signed only for them change their minds before registration forms are signed at the end of June.

He is wary not to repeat that this summer, but has admitted he is on the hunt for new players, while he is still sorting out the future of his current side.

“I’m not being too public about my targets at the moment,” he said.

“I learnt last year that it’s easy to go public but players can change their minds, they have got to want to play for me and the club.

“I’ve got a few bits and pieces that I’m looking at.

“I’m starting to sign people up now for next year. We have only really just started to sit down and talk to players.

“I have had meetings the last couple of weeks with players, they have all been quite positive, but they have got offers to consider from a number of other clubs as well.

“We need to make sure we get the right players in.”

He is waiting to find out whether he needs to bring in a new keeper as Whitstable Town have offered terms to Rob French.

If he does decide to go the Lilywhites would be due compensation because French is under 24.
