Dog killer mocks sentence saying he'll do it again

A violent thug who used a claw hammer to batter a dog to death mocked his sentence and vowed he would do the same again to another animal.

Showing no remorse for his crime, unemployed Christopher Dance unleashed a string of obscenities outside Sittingbourne Magistrates Court on March 4 shouting: “I’m happy with what I got, I beat the s**t out of that dog and I’d do it again as well. This tag is nothing, I’ll p**s it and I p*iss on them [magistrates].”

Dance, formerly of Knightsfield Road, Sittingbourne, was found guilty of causing a Staffordshire bull terrier unnecessary suffering and failing to take reasonable steps to ensure the needs of another animal after a Jack Russell died as a result of a dog fight in his garden.

His conviction followed him abandoning four unfamiliar dogs, including one previously used for illegal dog-fights, for hours in his garden while he went to a party.

Sentencing the 23-year-old, Judge Tim Bucher banned Dance from leaving his Maidstone home in Melville Road between 9pm and 7am for the next six months. He will have to wear an electronic tag for the duration of the curfew.

He was also sentenced to a 24-month community order and will be required to report regularly to probation officers.

Mr Bucher also disqualified the yob from keeping or owning dogs for ten years and he ordered him to pay £750 in costs to animal charity the RSPCA.

The court heard how Dance obtained the bull terrier to make him feel more masculine after becoming fed up of living in an all-female household.

He claimed he killed the dog in self-defence after it killed a friend’s Jack Russell and attacked two other dogs. He said he swung out with the hammer and clipped the dog while protecting himself.

However, prosecution witnesses dismissed his claims as lies saying his injuries should have been substantial but he had only a small scratch on his thumb. They said the dog had multiple fractures and it’s “brain was mush” from being pummeled so many times.

A six-month-old puppy would later die as a result of its ordeal taking the toll of dead animals to three.

Speaking after the trial RSPCA Chief Inspector Dermot Murphy said: “Dance was responsible for the death of three dogs.

“We are satisfied with the sentence. Dance’s liberty will be restricted and together with the lengthy disqualification and impingement on his financial means we feel the punishment reflects the crime.”

The sentence is NOT harsh enough. A rope around his neck would be more justified.
Anyone who has his attitude after conflicting those sort of injuries to a living being is a danger to society.
Iam certain he will harm again.
This thug has obvious issues if he needs a dog to make him feel more masculine!

I wish I could get my hands on that sick, sadistic psycho myself. The dude likes pain? I'd give him pain. I really hate people who abuse animals of any kind and I really hope that Christoper Dance, the criminally insane animal hater, will never see the daylight again!

How can he be let off so lightly, if it was a child he battered to death, he would have got life inside, and then the other hardened prisoners, would have put his brains into mush. Obviously this means, animals are not viewed, by these so called Judges, as to be as important as humans, Why not? Disgusted.

This is justice? What does it take to get a violent killer a proper sentence in the UK? More deaths? Human deaths are the natural progression of this kind of sick, deranged subhuman. Until such horrific animal cruelty is taken much more seriously, all species are in danger when these cruel creeps are allowed to remain free. What were the judge and the RSPCA thinking?

He's nothing but a mindless THUG, tagging him wont do any good. We're hearing too much on cruelty to animals, the sentences are too light. Hopefully he'll meet someone that will do the same thing to him!!

Why not some prison time in a two man cell with a big gay guy who loves animals? This guy should get the max with no parole and consecutive sentences for each dog, plus a contempt of court charge. It will only be so long before he moves up to humans. This sentence needs to be appealed to a higher court.

This is despicable. - Getting off so lightly, which does absolutely nothing to deter others. But also, yeah, I like Klondike, would like to know where the owners of these other dogs were.

I wished they would have made him do community serivce in a dog kennel or something. He should have been sentenced more harshly, if you ask me he's a coward and kills animal's because of his low self-esteem and inadequacies as a man!

I work in a well known pet store and see many different dog breeds, and have never experienced a mean, scary Staffordshire Terrier! They have been, shy, playful, and sometimes protective of their owner, but never lashed out to harm me, or anyone else around them! Any dog that has problems getting along with other dogs, is usually in its breed, and so the humans should know this, by researching, and know better than to have those dogs running free! A responsible, caring, loving, owner breeds same

This is pitifully weak sentencing. Before long more creatures will be suffering because of this individual

This low life should have been put in prison
for as long as possible. There is no excuse for
cruelty to animals.

Okay, this man should not have owned a dog in the first place, but where were the owners of the other three dogs? Why weren't they in court? Why aren't they being held responsible for the welfare of their animals? If the UK enforced leash laws, the other three dogs wouldn't have been in his back yard.

This is a very sad story, I would love to meet Mr. Dance with my claw hammer! The staffordshire terrier we own looked almost identical to the one he violently killed. to me wearing a anklet and not owning an animal for the next 10 years is a little bit uneffective or not stern enough that animal was someones pet! Yes the dog may have done something wrong but killing it the way he did was also. To me he should of spent a good amount of time in jail AND NEVER BE ABLE TO OWN ANOTHER ANIMAL VERY SAD

This guy is obviously a cruel, sick, son of a bitch and this sentence is not nearly even REMOTELY close to the sentence her deserves.
This jerk is a danger to all decent humans and all animals.
I am disappointed that you feel the sentence was a GOOD one!
It's a sad day for everyone when a sentence this light is given fro a crime this inhumane and sadistic.

What a low life thug. The sentence was not adequate at all. He should have been imprisoned. I have a feeling this thug will be in and out of trouble for many years to come. The only way to make sure no more innocent animals have to suffer is to lock this scum up.
