A former hotel porter left crippled after being run over while crossing a road has been awarded £1.75 million in compensation.
Philip Plowright, 50, was hit by a car in Langton Road, Rusthall, on December 21, 2006, suffering severe head and internal injuries, and several broken bones.
He survived the horrific injuries but his brain damage was so bad that he will now need care for the rest of his life and is living in a residential home in Hertfordshire.
His sister Amber Clement, of the Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells, sued the driver of the car and his motor insurers on behalf of her brother.
The compensation award was made during a hearing at the High Court in London on Tuesday, which ruled the driver should bear 50 per cent of the responsibility for the accident.
