Welling United go to Worcester City tomorrow still no nearer to securing the appointment of Jamie Day as their new manager.
The Dartford midfielder, who was initially announced as Andy Ford’s successor on Wednesday, trained with Tony Burman’s squad last night (Thursday) after the Darts blocked his move to Park View Road.
The two clubs are locked in discussions over compensation for Day, who is under contract at Princes Park and is highly regarded by Darts fans.
Dartford, having raced into a 13-point lead at the top of the Ryman League Premier Division, are red-hot favourites to win promotion and face Welling in Blue Square South next season.
Ford cited budget cuts and a lack of ambition for his departure on 12 October and Day, should he take over, will be charged with the task of lifting Welling clear of the drop zone, with just three points separating them from the bottom three.
Lee Protheroe will resume his role as Wings caretaker manager for the trip to Worcester, looking to build on a 1-0 win against Lewes last Saturday.
