Jamie Staff helped his chances of qualifying for the World Track Cycling Championships by winning gold at the World Cup meeting in Manchester.
The Olympic Team Sprint champion, from Ashford, was riding alongside four-time Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy and Ross Edgar, and the trio were the class of the field as they eased their way to gold.
They clocked the fastest time in qualifying by posting a time three tenths of a second quicker than second-placed Team Great Britain.
In Sunday’s final, Staff and the rest of Team Sky continued to improve setting a time of 43.423 seconds to beat Great Britain by four tenths of a second.
The win should secure Staff’s place at the World Championships in Denmark next March.
