A man arrested after being seen wandering around a village carrying a handgun is being treated for mental illness.
An armed response unit from Kent Police was called to Taylor Lane in Trottiscliffe, near West Malling, at 7.40pm on Thursday last week.
Officers used to a dog to track the man until he could be arrested.
The man was held overnight in custody at a police station, before being transferred into the care of mental health professionals on Friday afternoon for treatment.
