Young motorcyclist dies after bike comes off the road near Ashford

Romney Marsh Road A2042 was closed in both directions while officers carried out investigations

A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died after his bike came off a road near Ashford.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 10.10am today following a report that a biker had been involved in a crash after his bike came off the Ashford-bound carriageway of the Romney Marsh Road A2042.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Romney Marsh Road A2042, between Norman Road and Malcolm Sargent Road in Ashford, was closed in both directions until around 3.30pm while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit carried out investigations.

Two vehicles were also involved in a separate collision on the opposite side of the carriageway.

Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the orange Triumph Daytona motorcycle before the incident.
