Would-be thieves threaten to stab pensioner in Swanley alleyway

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was threatened by a group of would-be thieves.

The victim, a man in his 70s, was walking along the alleyway from Homefield Close to Birchwood Park Avenue at around 5pm on Wednesday, October 4, when four men approached him.

One of the men threatened to stab the pensioner if he did not hand over his money.

But when they victim did not see a knife, he refused to give the offenders any money, instead threatening to call the police.

All four men then ran back towards Birchwood Park Avenue.

The suspect who spoke to the pensioner was described as tanned, either 23 or 24-years-old, 6ft 2in tall with a stocky build.

He was wearing a blue anorak and blue jeans while the three other suspects are described as white and wearing brown clothing.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Anyone who saw the suspects before or after the incident or who has any information that could help, is asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting reference 04-1001.

“Alternatively contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
