Woman raped in early hours after leaving friend’s house in Gillingham

The assault took place as the 37-year-old victim was walking into town
Police are investigating a rape that took place in Gillingham last Saturday.
It was reported that the 37-year-old victim had left a friend’s house to walk into town when she was approached by a man who raped her.
The incident happened in a grassy area opposite the junction of Marlborough Road and Lock Street, at some point between 12.50am and 1.40am on Saturday, February 11 2017.
He is described as being a stocky man of Indian appearance, aged in his 20s, with bushy eyebrows and neatly-cut sideburns. He was wearing a navy blue beanie hat, a white top with a red cross on it, and dark trousers.
Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have been carrying out a number of enquiries into the investigation and are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
