The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning

The Met Office has warned that strong winds causing fallen trees, difficult driving conditions and power outages could last until tonight (Tuesday).

North-westerly winds of up to 60mph are battering Kent, already causing problems at the Dartford Crossing and ports and the Met Office has now issued a yellow wind warning until 10pm.

The warning means there is a medium chance of the wind having low impact on travel and power.

Winds are expected to ease during the evening, with the heavy showers covering the county also expected to clear by early afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Wednesday will be mainly fine with sunny spells although it will cloud over from the south west during the afternoon with outbreaks of rain during the evening and night. It will remain unsettled with rain or showers on Thursday, possibly heavy with thunderstorms during the afternoon.”
