The show runs until October 14 in the city - but has confirmed it will return for more shows in 2018
Author Michael Murpurgo was in the audience in Canterbury last night to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the stage production of his book War Horse.
The writer, whose parents met at the Marlowe Theatre and who went on to work as a teacher in a primary school in the county before finding fame and fortune for his work, watched a performance of the show during its month long run at the Canterbury venue.
Joining him in the audience were guests from the National Theatre, whose anniversary tour of the show opened in Kent last month, before embarking on a jaunt around the UK.
Others in attendance included Shaun Williamson, star of Extras and EastEnders, and Simon Cook, leader of Canterbury City Council.
The show runs at the theatre on October 14 but this week confirmed it will be returning next year for another string of shows of the award-winning production.
