There are delays on the London-bound carriageway between junction 8 and junction 4

Traffic was queuing for more than six miles this morning after a smash between a car and a motorcycle blocked a key section of motorway.

All lanes have now re-opened after emergency services dealt with the crash which blocked the outside lane of the London-bound carriageway of the M20 between junction 5 for Aylesford and junction 4 for the A228.

Delays are still stretching well past junction 8 for Leeds Castle on the approach and there are also queues on the coastbound stretch between junction 4 and the incident.

The A249 southbound at Detling Hill has delays joining the M20 at junction 7 as a result and the A20 London Road from Maidstone to Larkfield is also very slow moving as traffic diverts from the M20.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey and avoid the area if possible.
