Ukip to decide today if Kent’s Henry Bolton will lead the party

Odds on Mr Bolton becoming leader have been slashed in recent weeks
Henry Bolton will find out this afternoon whether he is the next leader of Ukip.
The announcement will be made at its party conference in Torquay following a turbulent 15 months in the aftermath of the vote to leave the European Union.
However, Mr Bolton, who is from Folkestone and last year stood as Ukip’s candidate in the Kent police and crime commissioner election, believes he is the man to bring the party together again.
That is despite him clashing with Chris Wells, the leader of the party’s only local authority in the country, over the future of Manston airport and general running of Thanet District Council only last week.
The bookies still make Anne Marie Waters and Peter Whittle the frontrunners in the battle to replace Paul Nuttall, though odds on a Mr Bolton victory have slashed in recent weeks and he has received the backing of a number of key figures in the party.
The next leader of Ukip is expected to be announced at around 3.15pm.
