Two dead and three in hospital after car slams into Hawkhurst wall

A teenage girl is fighting for her life in hospital after a fatal crash in Hawkhurst over the weekend.

Two men died in the crash after a red Volvo hatchback slammed into a wall on the A268 Rye Road near Foxhole Lane at around 9.30pm on Saturday.

The car was travelling towards Sandhurst.

A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed a 44-year-old man from the Cranbrook area and a 50-year-old from north Wales were both confirmed as dead at the scene.

Another man and two teenage children, one of whom suffered “life-threatening injuries”, were rushed to hospital from the scene.

Officers were called along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Secamb.

According to KFRS, the car had managed to turn on its side during the crash.

Officers closed the road for investigation work, before it was reopened at around 3.40am on Sunday morning.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Volvo just beforehand, and has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 or email quoting reference DK/BG/214/17.”
