A man and a woman were taken into police custody

A Whitstable man needed hospital treatment over the weekend after falling victim to a suspected acid attack.

Two people have been arrested after Kent Police officers were called to premises off Thanet Way in the town at around 8.50am on Saturday, August 5.

Paramedics treated the victim for serious injuries.

He was rushed to hospital after reports a substance had been thrown at him.

Hours later, police arrested a 25-year-old woman from the Whitstable area on suspicion of assault.

A 51-year-old man, also from the town was also arrested, on suspicion of making threats to cause criminal damage and threats to kill.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said: “Both currently remain in police custody while enquiries continue.

“It is believed the victim and suspects are known to each other.”
