Students from MidKent College have met Olympic legends Roger Black and Derek Redmond during a two-day conference at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

The two athletes, who were also joined by London 2012 hopeful Jade Johnson, shared the highs and lows of their careers at the Sporting Legacy event.

Students from the Maidstone Campus’ Sport, Fitness and Leisure faculty were also treated to tours of some of the Olympic venues, including the Olympic Stadium and the Velodrome.

Programme area leader Neil Hemstead said: “London won the right to host the 2012 Olympic Games by demonstrating its commitment to creating a sporting legacy for the country.

“Our students were inspired by what they heard from these great Olympians and are in no doubt of the sporting, economic, cultural and environmental legacies the Games will leave behind.”
