Follows problems yesterday when signalling problems prevented services from getting to the mainline station

Southeastern passengers diverted to and from Blackfriars on Tuesday have been thanked for their patience and reassured that expected services into Waterloo will run as planned from today (Wednesday).

Some 40 services will run from Kent directly into Waterloo mainline while major engineering work continues that is preventing any services from calling at Charing Cross, Waterloo East or London Bridge this week.

The changes are in place while major improvement work is carried out in and around London Bridge as part of the Thameslink programme – a key component of a £133m Network Rail investment programme to upgrade the railway across Britain this August.

An amended timetable is in place and those trains that do run will be extremely busy and will be diverted to alternative London stations including Victoria, Blackfriars, Waterloo and Cannon Street.

Cannon Street in particular will be exceptionally busy as more passengers will be using the station than usual.

During the evening peak, two queuing systems to enter the station will be in operation; one on Dowgate Hill and the other outside the front of the station. Passengers are advised that queues of up to 30 minutes are to be expected and they will need to leave more time for their journeys. If possible, Cannon Street passengers should try to travel outside of the evening peak
