South Thanet MP’s aide is charged with two counts of rape following incident at Houses of Parliament

A senior aide to South Thanet MP Craig Mackinlay has been charged over an allegation of rape.
The charges follow an alleged incident at the Houses of Parliament in the early hours of Friday, October 14.
More than four months on, officers from Met Police have charged Samuel Armstrong.
The 23-year-old from Danbury in Essex was charged today (Thursday, March 2) with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
The chief of staff in Mr Mackinlay’s parliamentary office has been bailed to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 31.
A spokesperson from Craig Mackinlay’s office said: “This is now a matter for the criminal justice system.”
