Motorists in Canterbury faced rush hour chaos this morning as a main road through the city was shut for hours closed following a smash.

Long queues built up on the approach following the closure of the A28 Sturry Road by Asda.

It follows a smash at around 4am this morning. The road finally reopened just after 10am.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “One man has suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. These are not life threatening.

“The vehicle involved was a VW Passat and two people were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit.”
