Police probe ‘arson’ attack on pensioner’s house in Borough Green and appeal for witnesses

Elderly man had to be treated in hospital after blaze destroys front door and garage

Police say they believe arson was responsbile for a blaze at a pensioner’s house in Borough Green last week.

Emergency teams were called at around 10.30pm last Wednesday, March 8, to the property in Basted Lane.

The peneioner was at home at the time and raised the alarm after discovering his front door was alight.

The garage next to the house was also on fire. The contents of the garage, which included gardening equipment and a quad bike, and the front door were all destroyed.

The victim, an elderly man, was taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation but has since been discharged.
