A motorcyclist was killed in a horror smash in Manston yesterday, police have confirmed.

The crash occurred at 11.25am on Sunday on the B2190 Spitfire Way, Manston, involving a black Triumph Speed Triple motorbike travelling towards Thanet and a white Citroen Berlingo travelling in the opposite direction.

Investigating officer Police Constable Jamie Woodhams from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “It appears that for some unknown reason the motorbike was travelling on the wrong side of the road when it was in collision with the Citroen close to the junction with Alland Grange Lane.”

The motorcyclist, a local man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the Citroen was treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Officers are now appealing for people who saw the smash to come forward.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed or heard the collision or from anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand,” PC Woodhams added.
