Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Watling Street, Gillingham

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision

A pedestrian hit by a car as he was crossing the road in Watling Street, Gillingham on Monday has died.

Officers were called to the scene at 12.55pm to reports a man in his 30s, who was crossing close to the junction with Rotary Gardens, has been hit by a red Toyota Aygo.

The pedestrian died from his injuries on Tuesday after being taken to a hospital in London by an air ambulance.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses who they have not yet spoken to, to get in touch.
