Love is clearly in the air this Valentine’s Day as passengers across the Southeastern rail network have sent romantic messages to their nearest and dearest at stations throughout Kent and south east London.

The messages have appeared on information boards at a number of stations today, after the rail franchise received romantic requests from commuters.

One read: “Happy Valentines Lizzy Love Craig” while another said “Happy Valentines Vicki, may all your trains run on time. Geoff x”.

Also among the gushing tweets received by Southeastern were heart-warming tales of love at first sight on a train.

One message at Chatham station spoke about meeting his future partner on a Southeastern train five years ago: “To my darling wife Nichola Baker. As with any journey, who you travel with is more important than the destination. From when we first met on a train, I still love that we can travel together every day. Love you so much X X X.”

Whilst at Canterbury, one commuter wanted to surprise his girlfriend as she travelled down to London from Canterbury West to meet him.

“I love you Stephanie, can’t wait to see you”, he said.

Southeastern’s passenger information manager, John Till added: “Playing cupid is just one of the ways we look to put a smile on our passengers’ faces and we hope the lucky ones enjoyed the surprise messages from their Valentine.

“We connect people every day but always love to hear about couples who first set eyes on each other on our network.”

Last year, Southeastern’s husband and wife train drivers Andrew and Alaina Laker were unveiled as Britain’s fastest couple.

They fell in love while working on Britain’s only domestic highspeed trains.
