Newington smash sees fire crews cut roof off car to free trapped victim

Incident occured during Monday night’s rush hour

Fire crews had to use specialist cutting equipment to free a man trapped inside a car following a smash in Newington, betweeen Sittingbourne and Rainham, last night (Monday).

Emergency teams were summoned at around 5.15pm to the crash in London Road.

They quickly freed him using hydraulic cutting equipment to slice the roof off the car.

The injured man was then passed to ambulance crews.

There were no other cars involved in the crash.
