Kent will be keeping its fingers crossed today it manages to miss forecast torrential downpours which are set to sweep in later today.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain leading to potential flooding.

The news will be particularly concerning for those planning to head to one of Kent’s leading music festivals, Canterbury’s Lounge on the Farm.

With a star-studded line-up spread over the three-day event, gates open at 5pm with thousands set to descend on the site to put up tents this evening ahead of the first bands hitting the main stage tomorrow.

The Met Office said: “Scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely at times on Thursday, particularly during the afternoon and evening with the potential for some heavy rainfall in places.

“The public should be aware that, following recent heavy rainfall, the ground remains saturated, and that further rainfall could lead to surface water flooding.”

It is hoped the rain may miss Kent altogether.
