Crash investigators are appealing for witnesses after a man was left fighting for his life following a serious collision.

The incident took place last night (June 9) shortly after 11pm on the Old Thanet Way, in Canterbury.

A red Vauxhall Corsa was travelling between Chestfield and Herne Bay when it left the road and hit a tree.

The driver, a 19 year-old man from Whitstable, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with life threatening injuries.

The road was closed while police investigated the incident.

Anyone with any information can call the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.

Police also want to speak to anyone who might have seen the Corsa at the McDonalds restaurant on the Old Thanet Way before the collision.
