Police appealing for witnesses

A man has been killed in a car crash after the convertible he was driving hit a tree near Canterbury.

The white Vauxhall Astra had its top down when the crash happened in Herne Bay Road, Sturry.

Police believe the man, who has not been named, had driven along the A28, from the Margate area at around 7.30am.

The road was closed for four hours.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the car before the crash.
