Officers arrest man following call out on Tuesday night

A 32-year-old man is in police custody after he was arrested following reports of a man seen in Maidstone carrying a knife.

The alarm was raised at around 9pm yesterday (Tuesday) following reports of suspicious behaviour in Ashford Road.

Following a search of the area a 32-year-old man was located and arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

During a search of the suspect whilst in custody, officers later seized further items leading to him also being arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and for going equipped to steal.

The man currently remains in police custody.
