Rush hour headache as motorway reopens

The good news is the M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham has re-opened. The bad news is that one lane remains shut leading to severe delays on the busy motorway.

The road was forced to close completely in both directions after a 15ft deep sink hole appeared in the central reservation on Tuesday afternoon.

But after a day of repairs, one lane re-opened.

However, the weight of traffic during this mornings rush hour led to what highways chiefs described as ‘very severe’ delays on the London-bound carriageway between junctions five - for Sittingbourne - and six for Faversham.

Repair work will continue throughout the day.
