Youngster is now one of the favourites to win the show

Medway’s The Voice star Joseph Apostol has made it through to the semi-finals of the popular BBC reality show.

The 21-year-old MidKent College student has taken one of the last two places on Sir Tom Jones’ team after his rendition of the Jackie Wilson classic Higher and Higher.

Wearing a bright pink blazer, the Gillingham singer was rewarded with a place among the final eight competitiors after Sir Tom Jones gave him a fast pass through to next week’s show.

Opposition coach Jessie J was even quick to praise Apostol, who arrived in the UK from the Phillipines with his mother when he was just a child.

She said: “I love the way you are becoming your voice but I want to see it in your body too. Performance-wise just take it there. I believe next week you will be able to show us that.”

The Voice continues this weekend.
