Gillingham youngster makes it to the next round

MidKent College student Joseph Apostol has made it through to the next round of the popular BBC One talent show The Voice.

The music pupil, 21, from Gillingham, was successful in Saturday’s battle round clash with pop duo Diva, with the two acts performing the Elton John classic Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me.

Apostol will now progress to the knockout stage, which is just one step away from the live shows judged by the general public.

Head of faculty at the college Louise Molton said: “Joseph is such a lovely young man and we are absolutely delighted to see him doing so well in the competition.

“All his friends and lecturers here at the college have been glued to our television screens and giving him support through text messages, emails and on social media.

“We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that he gets through the knockout stage so we can all jam the telephone lines once we receive our chance to vote.”

Joseph has already performed several times in front of staff and students at MidKent College, including at the opening of the Medway Campus’ new soundproof live room last November.
