First glimpse as this year’s show takes shape at the Kent Showground
Despite the traffic problems, the crowds were swelling as the Kent County Show got under way on Friday morning.
Some 80,000 people are expected to descend upon the Kent Showground site in Detling for what is traditionally one of the highlights of the year.
Among the many attractions are livestock, various displays, hundreds of stalls and stands, and the chance to be reminded of the rural lifestyle upon which Kent has been built.
From displays of classic cars to fairground rides, bee-keeping demonstrations to ornate hand-carved wood furniture, the show is once again a smorgasbord of delights.
In addition there are a whole host of food and drink stalls.
Visitors are reminded to allow extra time to access the site due to increased security around the site - which will include bag checks.
The show runs from 8am to 6pm until Sunday. Tickets are available to purchase on the gate.
