Fresh off the success of his top 10 single with Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul, X Factor winner Matt Terry says his first 10 months of stardom has been “amazing”.

The Bromley singer has been travelling all over the world, working with producers and writers on his untitled debut album, which is set to land by the end of November.

On Friday, the first track off that album, Sucker for You, will go on sale.

The former Carluccio’s waiter told the Bromley Times: “I’m so excited, we’ve been teasing the fans with sneak previews for a while. The song’s written entirely by me so I’m really proud of the chance to get it out there and hear what people think.”

Ten months ago, the 24-year-old’s debut single, When Christmas Comes Around, came third in the race for Christmas number one, and since then the 13th X Factor winner says he has had a “rollercoaster” year: “There have been so many great moments since I won. I’ve travelled to places like Miami, Finland, Sweden and so many other cool places to meet with producers and writers for this album.

“Working with Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul for Subeme La Radio was unbelievable, then seeing it get to the top 10 was just even better

Despite being busy travelling the world and writing an album, the Spanish-fluent singer has still had time to come home, and even fit in a few episodes of the competition that catapulted him into the limelight.

He said: “I still come back to Bromley and see my Carluccio’s lot, I have a lot of friends here and obviously you can’t beat The Glades, the shopping in Miami might be a bit different, but Bromley is still home.

“I’ve been watching this year’s X Factor and Rai-Elle has really stood out for me, she’s only 16 and her acapella performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water was amazing.

“My advice for any winner is stick with your beliefs.

“I’m sure it happens with every artist, you get put under pressure to change your sound, or something like your hairstyle, but if you just stick to what you know and believe in, then you will get along fine.”

Matt Terry’s debut album is expected to drop by the end of November, with hopes for a UK tour next year.
