Organisers of Maidstone Olympic Torch Relay celebrations say the ticket release has been put back due to huge demand.

The celebration takes palce at Leeds Castle on July 19 as the torch comes to town for an overnight stop-over. Among the acts performing will be chart stars Rizzle Kicks.

Tickets will now be released on May 23.

Tickets will not be allocated on a first come first served basis but by ballot. Applicants will have until Friday June 8 to apply.

Applicants will be able to register for tickets at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/LeedsCastleTorchRelayCelebration.

Tickets will be free with a single transaction cost of £2.50. Eighty per cent of tickets will go to Maidstone borough postcodes.

The Leeds Castle celebration will be screened live to a community event at Mote Park. It will include choirs, the finals of Maidstone’s Got Talent, Shaun Williamson and Alvin Stardust. It will finish with a firework display at 10.30pm.
