UPDATE: Broken down lorry shuts tunnel at Dartford Crossing with hour-long delays on M25

The lorry broke down at around 12.15pm

A broken down lorry inside the west tunnel at the Dartford Crossing is causing hour-long delays for motorists on the M25 this afternoon.

Specialist recovery was needed to retrieve the HGV, which meant the tunnel was closed to traffic from around 12.15pm.

Highways England announced the tunnel had reopened just after 2.30pm, though long delays remain in the area.

Queues are currently tailing back to junction three for Swanley, with delays of up to an hour currently reported.
