Police said the case “extremely upsetting for everyone involved”

A rapist who carried out a number of physical and emotional attacks which police describe as “horrific” in Kent has been jailed for 23 years.

Jamie Taylor, 42, previously of Flimwell in East Sussex, was found guilty of carrying out numerous offences between 2006 and 2017 in the Folkestone and Maidstone areas.

Taylor committed multiple counts of rape and sexual assault along with other crimes including making threats to kill, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm and perverting the course of justice.

He was sentenced following a four-week trial at Canterbury Crown Court.

Detective sergeant Michelle Burgess: “Taylor’s attacks were utterly horrific and this case has been extremely upsetting for everyone involved.

“I hope this lengthy sentence imposed by the court sends a strong message to other victims of sexual abuse that we can help you and you do not need to suffer in silence.’
