Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident in East Street

A Gillingham teenager will appear in court today after being charged with the murder of 17-year-old Kyle Yule.

Victor Maibvisira, 19, of St Johns Road, was charged with one count of murder and one count of affray after he was arrested by officers on Tuesday in Woolwich, London.

He will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court by virtual court today (Friday).

Officers launched a murder enquiry after Kent Police was called to East Street, Gillingham, at 8.10pm on October 6 where Kyle, described by his mother as a “beautiful” son, was fatally injured.

A number of people were reported to be causing criminal damage to a silver Renault Clio shortly before Kyle was stabbed and later died in hospital.

Two teenagers, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, and a 20-year-old man, all from the Gillingham area, were each arrested on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old has since been released under investigation. The other two people remain in custody at this time.

Three other people from Gillingham, two teenagers aged 15 and 16-years-old and one man aged 18, have all been bailed until various dates in November.

A 20-year-old man, also from Gillingham and who was also arrested has been released under investigation.
