Crews quickly brought it under control

Fire crews were called out to Ashford in the early hours of this morning after a fire in a hedge spread to a nearby fence prompting concerns it could ignite a nearby domestic gas supply.

Crews were sent to Kennington Road in Willesborough at around 2.25am on Friday.

They discovered the fire had also spread to a detached garage.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus brought the blaze under control and made the area safe within an hour.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is not yet known.
