Lifeboat crew and RAF helicopter called out to help

Four people had to be rescued after getting stuck in mud in the Medway Estuary on Saturday night, in what proved to be a busy weekend for lifeboat crews.

Four people in their 20s needed help after getting stuck just 100 yards from the shore near Whitton Marina in Vicarage Lane, Hoo.

The Sheerness inshore lifeboat team wa launched, while a Sea King 125 rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham was also in attendance.

All were recovered safety.

The lifeboats crewed were also called out to instances off Minster, Grain and Sheerness, as the good weather encouraged people to take to the coast.
