Police have worked together with their European counterparts to detain a man wanted in connection to a rape last year.

Rafiullah Hamidy had appeared on Kent Police’s most wanted, following the alleged incident in the Northwood Road area of Ramsgate on September 18 last year.

The 24-year-old was detained in Taranto, found in the Apulia region of southern Italy on Monday, February 27, after Kent Police secured a European Arrest Warrant.

He is now due to appear in Italian court for an extradition hearing.
