Queues are stretching back past junction 5 for Sittingbourne

Drivers are being warned of delays of more than 90 minutes on a key stretch of motorway after a smash caused lanes to be closed earlier this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the westbound carriageway of the M2 between junction 4 for Rochester and junction 3 for Chatham, and while all lanes are now open, highways chiefs say the queues - stretching back past junction 5 for Sittingbourne - will take time to clear.

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and consider using an alternative route if possible.
