Driver suffers burns after lorry fire on A228

The seat of his cab caught fire on Thursday evening

A lorry driver was treated for burns after the seat of his cab caught fire.

Crews were called to the scene on the A228, near the RSPCA Centre crossroads just after 9pm on Thursday where they found a man, thought to be around 40 years old, suffering burns to his hand and fingers.

A spokesperson said: “Fire crews administered first aid while they awaited the ambulance service.

“The casualty was then passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service.”

Crews left the scene at around 10.40pm.
