Blaze at Margate funpark site is being investigated by police

Police are investigating a fire that broke out at Dreamland theme park yesterday evening (Wednesday, May 29).

The blaze, which was believed to have started at about 8.30pm, was confined to a disused building at the Margate site.

A statement on Dreamland’s Facebook page said yesterday: “There was a suspected arson attack on the Scenic Railway this evening.

“The fire was successfully put out and there was minimal damage. The site is currently being boarded up and secured.”

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman, however, told KOS Media that “the Scenic Railway was not affected by the fire”.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined and police are investigating.
