A service designed to support the growth of business in Kent and Medway has been launched by a body set up to encourage firms to set up camp in the county.

Locate in Kent’s Plus service is aimed at companies looking to move to the county from overseas or other parts of the UK, companies starting up in Kent and companies currently here looking to expand.

Utilising Locate in Kent’s in-house expertise and working with a number of high profile Kent partners, the service includes legal and accountancy advice, access to financial incentives, relocation support as well as specialist sector and skills expertise.

With over 1.78 million residents, Kent has the largest population of all the English counties, with a workforce approaching 895,000 and 14,000 students graduating in the county every year, which bosses say makes Kent a highly attractive business base for companies already situated here or those looking to re-locate to the county.

Chief executive Paul Wookey said: “We already know that Kent is a great place for business growth and investment, with superb connectivity to London and Europe, two enterprise zones and commercial property prices at 60 per cent less than the capital.

“The Plus service gives us the opportunity to showcase all that the county has to offer and guide businesses through growth and relocation via a panel of expert partners and our experienced and knowledgeable team.”

Mark Dance, cabinet member for economic development at Kent County Council, said, “I welcome the introduction of Locate in Kent’s Plus service, which has been designed to help businesses succeed in the county.

“This initiative will highlight the benefits of developing a business in Kent and will support the delivery of new jobs and economic growth.”

Gavin Tyler, managing partner at law firm Cripps, added: “As the principal partner of Locate in Kent, Cripps is highly committed to encouraging business investment in the county.

“LiK’s new Plus service is a great way of offering companies a range of flexible support services which can be tailored to provide them with the right level of expertise and understanding.

“We’ve assisted many businesses to establish themselves here and are confident that Plus will help further attract dynamic and ambitious companies to make the most of the opportunities available in one of the country’s most vibrant and commercial business communities.”
