It had caused major traffic congestion in and around the area

The A2 near Canterbury is now fully reopen following a smash in the early hours of the morning which kept it shut for much of the Tuesday rush hour.

The eastbound carriageway between junction 7, Brenley Corner for the M2 at Faversham and the A2050 Harbledown bypass had been completely closed after the crash.

However, shortly after 8am this morning - despite fears the road would remain shut for much of the morning - it was reopened and lengthy delays in the area began to clear.
