Ashford runner hopes to make Team GB
Olympic hopeful Lisa Dobriskey has been left out of the Great Britain squad for the European Championship – fuelling hopes she will be selected for London 2012.
She was rested, along with 100m sprinter Dwain Chambers, in their key events for the Helsinki event which starts this week.
Many observers believe it heightens the chances of both being in Team GB for London 2012.
The former Ashford Athletics Club runner, who grew up in New Romney, is hoping to compete in the 1,500 metres at the Games.
She finished second in the Team GB trials in Birmingham at the weekend – although short of the required A qualifying time required to guarantee a berth.
If she is to be selected it will round-off a remarkable return to form following a health scare earlier this year which left her with blood clots on her lungs.
She was the Commonwealth Games gold medal winner in the 1,500m in 2006 and won a silver medal in the 1,500m at the 2009 World Championships.
She finished fourth at the Beijing Olympics four years ago.
