A tribute to music legend Amy Winehouse is to take place next weekend at Dickens World – with the singer’s mother set to be among the audience.
The Amy Winehouse Tribute Night, will feature Laura Jane Butler performing hits such as Rehab, Valerie and Back to Black.
A total of £5 from each ticket sold will go directly to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up in her memory by her parents.
“The Amy Winehouse Foundation (AWF) works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people. We also aim to support, inform and inspire vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to help them reach their full potential,” said Amy’s dad, Mitch.
Janis Winehouse, diagnosed with MS more than 30 years ago, could be at the show as she loves to hear her daughter’s songs performed.
Laura Jane Butler has been called the UK’s “leading and best” Amy Winehouse tribute act, reflecting the soul star’s unique attitude, look and deep raspy voice.
The foundation itself has been full of praise for her saying: “Laura is one of the country’s foremost Amy tribute artists, and ensures that she takes her AWF collection bucket to all of her gigs.
“One of her most recent events, staged at The Brickhouse in Brick Lane, London – a street that is something of a spiritual home for the Winehouse family – raised £2,737.50 for the Foundation, taking her personal tally to £3,802.63 since May.
“One of the Winehouse’s first homes upon arriving in the UK from Belarus was in Bacon Street, located just off Brick Lane. It is there that the family were living at the time of the 1901 census.”
The Amy Winehouse Tribute on Saturday, February 16, the night will include a three-course meal and Amy Winehouse Tribute Act along with a five piece live band.
Tickets are £29.95 and can be purchased by calling the Dickens World box office on 01634 890421.
