No-one likes a love rat, so one woman decided they should be ‘outed’ on a website to protect others from their unfaithfulness.
Sally Cornock claims she knows all about the rats who lie and cheat, making life miserable for everyone else around them.
She said her former lover was unfaithful to her – with a staggering 53 other women. The couple had met on an internet dating site.
The 42-year-old from Deal admits that was hard to live with, but she wasn’t quite prepared for the string of love rats she went on to meet.
So she decided it was time for women, and men for that matter, to know if the other person they are dating, is a love rat.
She launched loveratsinc, a website that lets ‘victims’ list details of what went wrong in their relationship with a love rat.
About the only thing left off the personal details of the ‘rat’ is their surname and full address. And they have the right of reply on the website, too.
People using the site can rate their rat on sex, honesty, commitment, and hygiene, plus detail how it all fell apart.
One ‘rat’ is as a 32-year-old dad-of-two from Herne Bay. He pulls in zero ratings for honesty and commitment and low on the sex too.
He is accused of being violent and unfaithful. His ‘victim’ writes: “No, you are not paranoid – everyone does hate you.”
Another alleged rat is a 39-year-old woman from Bromley. Her ratings are all high, and her victim said they had been going steady for “years” before he found out she was not actually single.
The ex-partner of a 31-year-old woman from Whitstable, warns others that she can’t be honest or stick to commitment but the sex was great.
He said she was “pretty as a picture – I wish I’d hung you”.
Ms Cornock said: “Talking to other women made me realise I wasn't the only one who wished I'd been able to steer clear of heartache by checking blokes out before I met them. I wanted to create a place where singles could do that.
"There's a small charge of £1.50 pounds to post a story and you can then add your own comments and email the other people who have dated them. Love rats even have the right to reply if they are brave enough.”
Ms Cornock knows there are plenty of love rats still out there, but despite everything she remains optimistic that one day she'll find her Mr Right among all the rats.
She said: “I know there are decent men left out there and they're not all bad. Hopefully one day I'll find the man of my dreams.”
She said her man never let his mobile, set on silent, out of his sight and even slept with it under his pillow and in his dressing gown while in the shower. But he eventually slipped up, and Ms Cornock checked it and was horrified at what she found.
The texts gave it away. One said: “Monday was great. Can't wait to do it again", and another "Looking forward to tomorrow night".
Instead of collapsing in floods of tears, she set about ringing each one to let them know what was going on. All his women were carefully catalogued so he couldn’t mix them up.
She then deleted everything and threw his stuff out the door along with the now-useless phone.
